Lambrusco Grasparossa, a red grape variety of the Lambrusco family, is native to the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. Among the Lambrusco varieties, Grasparossa stands out for its uniqueness. Although historically considered a simple table wine, it has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent decades, becoming a high-quality wine that reflects the rich culinary tradition of the region.
With origins dating back to antiquity, Lambrusco has been preserved over the centuries, especially during the Middle Ages, when monasteries played a crucial role in viticulture. In the 20th century, particularly in the 1980s, producers in the region implemented new cultivation and winemaking techniques, elevating Lambrusco from a humble wine to a sophisticated and highly prized product.
Lambrusco Grasparossa vines have medium to large leaves and small to medium berries with thin skins. The plant adapts well to the clay soils of the hills of Emilia-Romagna, where it reaches its best potential.
In recent years, the focus on quality, respect for traditional methods and appreciation of the diversity of Lambrusco grapes have consolidated its reputation as a premium wine, appreciated locally and internationally.
Ideal with Italian starters, pizza, pasta, grilled meats, spicy sausages, chicken (grilled or roasted), pork fillet, turkey, cheeses, tomato-based dishes, light summer meals and desserts such as fruit tiramisu or red fruits with mascarpone. Avoid pairing with overly seasoned dishes to preserve the subtle flavors of the wine.
